A pause with a purpose
Should I Wait? helps you think through an everyday purchase. Answer a few questions about what you need, your budget, what you already own, and why you want it now. Your answers produce a suggestion with visible reasons.
How suggestions are made
- Consider buying: a time-sensitive need with no working alternative and a comfortable budget can make buying reasonable. A planned purchase with clear answers can also fit.
- Give it time: unclear needs or budgets, sale pressure and mood-driven purchases benefit from another look.
- Consider skipping: a non-essential purchase that stretches your budget, or a want already covered by something you own, may be worth passing on.
The budget check comes first. If an essential purchase would stretch your budget, the suggestion is to pause and look at affordable alternatives. The tool does not suggest delaying essential care or safety needs. Its rules are a reflection aid, not a validated psychological assessment or personalised financial advice.
Save it, then decide again
Choose 1, 3, 7 or 30 days. Save the item to your waiting list, and optionally download a calendar event. Your calendar app controls its alerts. The website does not send automatic email or push reminders.
When you return, review your original answers and mark the item as bought, skipped or still waiting. Saved items remain in this browser on this device. Export a copy if you want a backup; there is currently no import or cloud sync.
Try a realistic cost per use
Our cost per use calculator divides a price by estimated uses per year and years of ownership. It also shows what happens if you use the item half as often. A low cost per use does not establish affordability or make a purchase necessary.
Sharing a second opinion
A share link includes the item name, optional price, currency and suggested direction. It does not include your budget or other private answers. Anyone with the link can read those shared details. A shared suggestion is supplied by the link sender; it is not a verified recommendation.
What about sales and Black Friday?
You can use this check before a sale purchase. We do not track prices, predict discounts, or claim to know the best day to buy. The useful question here is whether the purchase fits your life even without a countdown or sale banner.
